Finding Funds for Your Emergency Management Degree

Earning an Emergency Management degree requires a financial commitment that can be made easier with the assistance of scholarship awards and other financial assistance opportunities.  Following are scholarship opportunities specifically for Emergency Management degree seekers. Scholarships for Emergency Management Majors

JSU First Responders Scholarship: First responders are eligible for a 25% tuition scholarship at JSU in our emergency management undergraduate and master of science programs. 

The Royce B. Woodruff Scholarship is open to JSU D.Sc. students who have successfully defended their dissertation proposal. The scholarship provides funding to support data collection for their dissertation research. Submit your application to the D.Sc. Program Director.

The Lt. General Julius Becton Jr. Scholarship: is sponsored by the Institute for Diversity Inclusion and Equity in Emergency Management.  The scholarship is available to part-time or full-time students enrolled in an emergency management or homeland security-related field. Students must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher and in interest in improving disaster outcomes for underserved and/or marginalized populations.

NOAA/Hollings Scholarship: JSU Emergency Management undergraduate students are eligible to apply for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Ernest F. Hollings Scholarship.  See the scholarship description for complete details.  

APCO International Scholarships: APCO offers two scholarships:  Silent Key & Commercial Advisory Committee Scholarship and the John D. Lane Scholarship.  Refer to the APCO site for details.    

IAEM Scholarships: The IAEM Scholarship Program benefits students pursuing studies in emergency management, homeland security, disaster management, and related fields.  IAEM's Scholarship Program is available to full-time students pursuing degrees in emergency management, disaster management or related programs.

DHS Scholarship Programs:  The DHS Scholarship Program provides individual scholarships to support undergraduate students pursuing degrees in homeland security-focused courses of study.  Visit the DHS site for application requirements.

The Mary Fran Myers Scholarship: is open to students and professionals innatural disasters careers who require financial support for the Hazards Research and Applications Workshop. The program is funded through the Natural Hazards Center at the University of Colorado-Boulder. Past recipients have been from highly specialized studies and careers such as public safety for the disabled and natural disaster preparedness in relation to physical structures.

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) offers scholarship opportunities to all undergraduate students.
