Specific goals

For your online consultation, you will meet via the Office 365 Teams app with a Writing Center consultant during a scheduled time and work on student-identified goals and weaknesses.

Requirements are:

  • Quiet meeting spot.
  • Microphone and camera on.
  • Be able to share screen or attach files.
  • As this is a video consultation, students and anyone who might appear in the video must be fully clothed.

  1. Students will need to understand the purpose of Writing Center consultations, which can be found on the Writing Center About page.
  2. Students will need to have the required materials (see above) for an online consultation to be possible.
  3. Students need to be on time for scheduled appointments. If a student is late to an appointment, extra time cannot be extended. The appointment will end at the originally scheduled time.
  4. If a student cancels their appointment three times within a month, their next consultation must be through a drop-in.
  5. If a student no-shows (does not cancel their appointment through Navigate and does not show up to their meeting) three times within a semester, they can only meet through drop-ins for the following month.
  6. Consultants have the right to cancel an appointment for any student behavior deemed unacceptable.
