Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP)

AITP is a network of Information Technology professionals, educators, and students dedicated to continuing education, professional growth, leadership, and the exploration of issues that face the IT industry. Making such contacts with members in the IS field helps graduates to become more marketable in rapidly changing, technological careers. All CS/CIS students are eligible to become members of AITP.

The Computer Science Club is a professional and social organization devoted to promoting interaction among students in the MCIS department and exposing them to important CS-related issues and professionals working in the field of computer science. The club will soon be promoting and sponsoring events to increase awareness of and enrollment in JSU and the MCIS department, such as visiting area high schools and co-sponsoring chess tournaments. The club meets once a month to socialize, listen to guest speakers, and eat pizza!!! Any JSU student (not just majors!) who has an interest in computer science is eligible to become a member of the club.

Math Club

The JSU Math Club is an organization for any students interested in mathematics (not just majors!). Students have the option to join MAA and/or NCTM at reduced rates. Advisors and student officers plan several social events each year for students, such as holiday parties and bowling trips. Other past activities have included assisting with math tournaments on campus, exploring career opportunities, and attending state or regional math conferences.

Kappa Mu Epsilon (KME)

The Alabama Theta Chapter of Kappa Mu Epsilon, a mathematics honor society, was installed on March 29, 2010. KME, founded in 1931, promotes the interest of mathematics among undergraduate students. Its chapters are located in colleges and universities of recognized standing that offer a strong mathematics major. The chapters select members from students of mathematics and other closely-related fields that have maintained standards of scholarship, have professional merit, and have attained academic distinction. As of 2009, KME had 144 active chapters and over 75,000 members in 35 states. The JSU chapter of KME expects to induct qualifying students on an annual basis. Upsilon Pi Epsilon (UPE)

Upsilon Pi Epsilon is an honorary society whose membership consists of outstanding undergraduate and graduate students in computing and information disciplines. Upsilon Pi Epsilon is the first and only existing international honor society in the computing and information disciplines. Membership in UPE is by invitation only for CS/CIS students that have attained academic distinction.
