Dr. Dani Jones joined the JSU music faculty in Fall of 2008. She holds a Doctor of Arts in Vocal Pedagogy with a secondary in Music History from The University of Mississippi, a Master of Church Music with a double major in Vocal Pedagogy and Church Music from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Pedagogy with a secondary in Piano from The University of Louisville.

Her singing roles have included Rudi in "The Gift of Song," Anna in "The Consul," and the Mother in "Amahl," and soprano soloist in the Lord Nelson Mass. She toured as soloist with the Lane College Choir in Louisville, Indianapolis, Detroit, Chicago, Washington, D. C., New York, and Atlanta.

Dr. Jones was vocal director and performer for the Miles College/Birmingham Arts world premiere of the opera "Sky Sash, So Blue." Her other directing and teaching responsibilities have included applied voice studios and touring choirs at Bevill State Community College in Fayette and Hamilton, Alabama and Blue Mountain College in Blue Mountain, Mississippi; opera at Miles College in Birmingham, Alabama; a voice studio at the University of West Georgia, and church choirs in Kentucky, Indiana, Mississippi, Georgia, and Alabama.

Dr. Jones has implemented and instructed new courses in music fundamentals, music history, voice, and church music for four colleges. As Associate Professor of Music at Miles College from 2002-2008, she helped design and implement a music major, worked toward State and National Accreditation, and served as Coordinator of the Music Program in 2007.

In 2016, Jones published her, Music Works, A Music Appreciation Workbook.

Dr. Jones is a participating member of The National Association of Teachers of Singing and The College Music Society.
