Biology Professor Starts Sci-Fi Book Club on Campus

A new Sci-Fi Book Club has been established on JSU's campus. Organized by Dr. Jenna Ridlen, assistant professor of biology, the group will meet the first Tuesday of every month, 7-9 p.m., in Houston Cole Library, Room 10B. The club is low commitment, allowing participants to come the months they are able. Here's the book list and schedule for the 2019-2020 academic year: 
  • Sept. 3, "The Stars Are Legion," by Kameron Hurley
  • Oct. 1, "The Fifth Season" by NK Jemisin
  • Nov. 5, "The Calculating Stars" by Mary Robinette Kowal
  • Dec. 3, "Ink," by Sabrina Vourvoulais
  • Jan. 7, "Infomocracy" by Malka Older
  • Feb. 4, "All the Birds in the Sky" by Charlie Jane Anders
  • Mar. 3, "Everfair" by Nisi Shawl
  • Apr. 7, "Borderline" by Mishell Baker
