Dr. Lance Ingwersen (History & Foreign Languages) and Dr. Tray Ridlen (Art & Design) in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Sciences will be co-leading this trip, which is part of a course they will be team-teaching in spring semester 2024 focusing on History and Art in Revolutionary Mexico. This trip will overlap with the university’s spring break.

Class Credit

Students who enroll in one of the spring 2024 course sections identified below will be eligible to earn 3 hours of credit for successful completion of the course.

Enrollment

Students must enroll in ONE of the following class sections in order to participate:

  • HY 485 (History of Mexico) Section 002 CRN 22851 (undergraduate)
  • HY 485 (History of Mexico) Section 004 CRN 22853 (graduate)
  • ART 395 (Non-Western Art) Section 001 CRN 24623 (undergraduate)
  • ART 679 (Graduate Independent Study in Art History) Section 001 CRN 13024

Dates

The study tour runs from Thurs., Mar. 14 until Fri., Mar. 22. The university spring break runs from Mar. 18-22. Students who attend will miss two days of class (Mar. 14 and 15); the absences will be excused because this is a university-sponsored trip.

Final Review by International Travel Risk Committee is Jan. 15, 2024.

JSU's International Travel Risk Committee will need to review the destinations designated as Level 3 and Level 4 by the Department of State and/or CDC. As of Aug. 22, 2023, Mexico City is designated as Level 2 by the US Department of State. Participating students and faculty leaders are responsible for understanding the cancellation and refund policies of the providers. In the event the program gets canceled for the safety and health of the participants, the participants will be responsible for any financial losses.
