Program Description and Goals

Our Special Events Series highlights learning initiatives and program experiences from a variety of disciplines and special interest events.

  • To cultivate professional relationships across disciplines and departments, fostering a collaborative culture of innovation and shared knowledge within the university.
  • To gain insight into specialized university programs sponsored by Faculty Commons, including the President’s and Provost’s Faculty Fellows initiative and the Faculty Research Symposium.
  • To expand knowledge of research trends, methodologies, and interdisciplinary collaborations through symposium presentations and discussions.

Event: Faculty Research Symposium  

Presenters: Faculty, Student, and Staff presenters 

Description: Faculty Commons is pleased to announce the 2024 Faculty Research Symposium (FRS), set to take place on Thursday, November 7th in Merrill Hall. The awards reception begins at 5 pm. This showcase of scholarly and creative research explores the intellectual pursuits that shape our campus community and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in diverse fields. All faculty are invited to attend and discover the passion, expertise, and commitment of the Jax State faculty. The FRS is the product of the hard work and dedication of the FRS Planning Committee.

Time: 9:00-4:30; Reception to follow 5:00-6:00 PM

Event: Faculty Fellows Update with the President, Provost and Fellows

Presenters: Dr. Mark Sciuchetti and Dr. Laura Pitts, the 2024-2025 President’s and Provost’s Faculty Fellows 

Description: Join President Killingsworth, Provost Shelton, and the 2024-2025 Faculty Fellows as they give an update on the resident’s and Provost’s Faculty Fellowship program and the progress of the current Fellows’ initiatives.

Time: 2:30-3:30

While Faculty Commons encourages registration for On-Site Writing meetings, it is not a requirement to pre-register to attend meetings.
