Jax State Breaks Enrollment Record for Third Year

For the third consecutive year, Jacksonville State University has broken its all-time enrollment record. The fall census numbers were released on Friday, showing an overall headcount of 9,672 students.
“We are proud to see the JSU family continue to grow,” said President Don C. Killingsworth, Jr. “Going forward, we will begin to place a greater emphasis on recruiting dual enrollment and post-traditional students, while maintaining our traditional recruitment and retention efforts.”
JSU also continues to see an increase in continuing and dual enrollment students, posting its highest numbers this fall with 1,122 accelerated high school students getting a head start on their college studies by taking courses in-person and online at the university. Since 2020, the number of dual enrollment students has increased by 34%.
The university launched its third doctoral program in Spring 2023 - the Doctor of Education in educational leadership - in addition to the four new undergraduate certificates established over the past year in Criminality and Justice in a Diverse Society, Cybersecurity, Equity and Diversity, and Healthcare Systems and Society.
Applications for admission are now open for Spring 2024 and Fall 2024. Prospective undergraduate students are invited to take a sneak peek of campus at Preview Day on Sept. 23 and Oct. 10. Those interested in pursuing advanced degrees at JSU are invited to a Graduate Programs Information Fair on Oct. 5, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., in the TMB Auditorium.
