Increase Student Engagement with Poll Everywhere

  • Bio: Maureen is an Assistant Professor of Art History in the Department of Art & Design, in the College of the Arts, Humanities, & Sciences at Jax State. She enjoys finding creative ways to use digital tools in the classroom, whether to track attendance, increase engagement, or wander around virtual reality spaces.

Abstract: Frustrated by low participation in class? Afraid your students are too shy to speak in class? Use PollEverywhere to increase in-class engagement and participation! The options available with PollEverywhere include surveys, polls, open-ended responses, and even clickable images. The polls and other activities are great for the online, hybrid, and in-person classroom.

DesignPLUS 2.0 for Beginners

Abstract: DesignPLUS 2.0 has replaced DesignPLUS Legacy. In this session, we will enable DesignPLUS 2.0 in your Canvas account, and update any DesignPLUS Legacy content to 2.0 content. We will also look at the basic parts of the Sidebar, as well as how to find resources, guides, how-to videos, and walkthroughs from DesignPLUS.

  • Bio: Andrea Taylor is the Alabama Technology in Motion Specialist for the Jacksonville State University Inservice Center of Region 6 located at the McClellan Campus. Prior to becoming an ATiM Specialist, Andrea was a Teacher, Librarian and Instructional Coach over the past 15 years. She leads professional learning experiences for teachers and leaders in the areas of technology, STEM, digital literacy, and computer science.

Abstract:  Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming the world as we know it, leading to countless innovations and advancements across various fields. This technology has immense potential, and when used effectively, it can change the way we work, learn, and live. In this session we will explore what tools we can use it to transform educational practices, save time, and create content.

  • Bio: Ashley Robinson holds a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education from Jacksonville State University (2017) and a Master’s degree in Learning, Design, and Technology from the University of West Alabama (2022). Before transitioning into higher education, she spent seven years teaching in secondary education, where she developed a strong foundation in pedagogy, curriculum design, and student engagement. Ashley has been part of the Online@JSU team for the past two and a half years, supporting faculty and students in enhancing the online learning experience.
