Additional Graduate Admission Information
Students wishing to transfer to JSU should complete the JSU Graduate Application for Admission. Once admitted to a graduate program, students may request to transfer previously earned credits from another institution.
Steps to Transfer Credit
- Complete and submit a Transfer Credit Request form, listing the course(s) you wish to transfer.
- Email course syllabi for courses requested on your transfer credit request to the Graduate Certification team at gradcert@jsu.edu.
Evaluation of Transfer Credit
- Evaluation of transfer credit is made by the appropriate department of the student’s major and approved by Graduate Studies. A student intending to enroll at another institution and transfer a course(s) to JSU, must receive approval of the course work prior to enrolling in the course to ensure the course will be accepted for inclusion in the student’s program of study.
- Transfer credit cannot be used to raise the GPA of JSU coursework to the required minimum GPA of any major, teacher certification program, or graduate certificate program.
- Only graduate courses with grades A, B, P, and S may be transferred to JSU. Grades of C or below will not be eligible for transfer.
- Transfer credit must meet Time Limits as stated in the Graduate Catalog.
- Please see the Graduate Catalog for complete information on transfer credit.
International graduate applicants must have completed a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, or equivalent, from a regionally accredited institution. Degrees earned outside of the U.S. will be evaluated to determine the equivalency to a U.S. Bachelor’s degree. Program specific requirements must also be met.
The Accelerated Senior Privilege allows a graduating senior to take up to twelve graduate hours of coursework during their final year of undergraduate work. Accelerated Senior Privilege will also be extended to graduating seniors at other colleges and universities, provided all conditions specified below are met.
The Faster Master’s program allows exceptional Jax State undergraduate students to take up to 12 hours of graduate coursework during their junior and senior years, which double count towards both the bachelor’s and master’s degree.
