I was born in Toledo, Ohio. I attended the University of Toledo for both my bachelor's and master's degrees. My bachelor's degree was in Human Performance and my master's degree was in Sports Medicine. I worked as an exercise physiologist in a private clinic in Ohio for ten years before I obtained my license as an athletic trainer. I worked for a small hospital in Ohio for ten years as an athletic trainer providing outreach services to local high schools. Then I obtained my Ph.D. from Kent State University in Exercise Physiology. My academic career started in Louisiana where I taught exercise physiology for three years. I moved to Iowa after that and I was the internship coordinator for the College of Health Sciences at the University of Memphis for five years. I recently completed a Doctorate in Athletic Training at Florida International University before I came to Jacksonville State to teach athletic training.
