Move-In Registration Information
Move-in registration will open June 1, 2024, and close on August 1, 2024.
To register for a check-in time, visit THD Self Service. This move-in process will apply only to those moving in during the regular move-in days, which are Thursday, August 15, 2024 - Saturday, August 17, 2024.
Early Move-in Registration - Opens at 12:00 p.m. on June 1, 2024.
Early move-ins will report to their hall/Pannell Apartment Office to check in between 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. Early move-ins must register for a check-in time by signing up on THD Self Service. Marching Southerners will have a centralized check-in process and more information will be shared soon.
Check-in Process - August 15-17
Instead of residents checking in at their assigned on-campus community, we will be doing a centralized, drive-thru, check-in process. We will be holding the check-in process in the Pete Mathews Coliseum parking lot. When you arrive at our check-in station, you will follow the signage that will direct you to your residence hall or apartment lane.
The check-in process:
- Arrive at your registered move-in time.
- Show your photo ID and confirmation email from your check-in.
- Complete our online form to accept your assignment and sign the roster online.
- Receive your key packet and important information regarding residential living.
Arrival and Unloading Belongings
For move-in weekend (August 15-17), after you receive your key packet from our Housing Operations and Residence Life Staff, you may then proceed to your on-campus housing assignment. Before you arrive on campus, we recommend putting labels on your items, with your name and room number, so they do not get mixed in with other residents' items. We encourage residents to bring their own move-in equipment, such as wagons or dollies, to assist with moving in. Do not forget to write your name on your personal items.
Please note: We will have limited volunteers to assist in this year's move-in process.
What should I bring?
Check out our What to Bring checklist to see what items we recommend for on-campus living. Also, be sure to read our Guide to Residence Living to see what is not allowed in on-campus housing.
Access
To gain access to the residence halls, we are only requiring residents to tap their student ID at the security card reader.2024 Move-In FAQS
- Due to limited volunteers and no equipment being available, we highly encourage residents to pack light.
- Coordinate with your roommate before buying shareable items such as a mini fridge, microwave, shower curtain, etc.
- Visit our Suggested Packing List for a list of items to bring and items to leave at home.
- Make sure the boxes you pack are light and easy to carry.
- Use your storage bins as packing boxes.
- Focus on the necessities. Pack only what you need or what you cannot buy once you arrive in Jacksonville.
- Packing light is key to a quick and easy move-in. Remember that residents and their guests will be responsible for unloading and carrying items to their room. We will have limited volunteers available to assist with move in.
- You may bring as many guests as you want to help you move in, but remember, if you have a roommate, they may also bring guests. Space will get tight as you are moving in your items. Coordinate with your roommate to create a positive move-in experience for all.
- Your guests do not need to come to the central check-in station with you.
- Residents will be limited to two vehicles and no box trucks and/or trailers will be allowed due to limited parking and ongoing construction projects.
You will have as long as you need to move your items in after you pick up your key at our centralized check-in station at the Pete Mathews Coliseum parking lot.
If you are approved to move in early by being one of the designated groups listed above, you will report directly to your residence hall to check in. If you are moving into an apartment area (Campus Inn, College, Colonial Arms, Jax, Mountain Street Homes/Goodlett Avenue, Pannell Hall, or Penn House Apartments), you will check in at the Pannell Hall Apartment main office, then go to your housing assignment. You will be able to move in on your designated early move in day.
- If you are a summer resident who is currently in your fall assignment, you do not need to sign up for a check-in time. Our staff will contact you about finalizing the check-in process with you.
- If you are a summer resident who is moving to another assignment for the fall semester, we will coordinate a summer transition date for you to move into your new assignment for the fall 2024 semester. You will complete the check-in process at that time.
Contact us at jsuhousing@jsu.edu, and we can assist you with your confirmation email.
You will need a photo ID for the check-in process. If you were not able to get your ID at Gamecock Orientation, the ID Office will be open 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on August 15-16 and TBA on on August 17.
Once we assess housing charges to student accounts, you will automatically have a dining plan added to your account. You may choose which plan you want by visiting Campus Dining Services.
If you cancel your fall assignment, we cannot carry it over to the spring, nor can we guarantee the same assignment will be available in the spring semester. You will need to cancel before August 1 to ensure housing charges are not assessed to your student account.
Charges will be assessed to student accounts beginning in June 2024.
We are still making assignments and receiving cancellations daily. Students who do not claim their assignments during move-in weekend will forfeit their assignments. We will reassign those spaces to students on the Housing Queue on the morning of Monday, August 19.
