Dr. Allen W. Gilbert serves as Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for the Master of Science: Sports Industry program at Jacksonville State University. With a career spanning three decades, Dr. Gilbert brings a wealth of practical and academic expertise in marketing, event operations, campus recreation, and intercollegiate athletics.

His extensive professional background informs his current academic research, which focuses on critical and emerging issues within the sports landscape. Dr. Gilbert's recent research interests include the evolving realm of sports gambling, specifically examining the impact of its legalization on gaming revenue with the publication of The Supreme Court Verdict on the Legalization of Sports Gambling: The Effect on Gaming Revenues in Fall 2020 edition of the Journal of Applied Financial Research and the recent influences NIL regulations on sports wagering behaviors with The Effect of Name, Image, and Likeness Policies on Sports Gambling in the Journal of Business and Economic Issues.

Beyond the financial and regulatory aspects of sports, Dr. Gilbert has also examined the application of 21st-century technology in the training and development of sports officials, seeking innovative methods to enhance officiating performance. Furthermore, his research explores the pedagogical value of experiential learning within the sport and recreation industries, emphasizing effective strategies for preparing future professionals through hands-on opportunities with A Contemporary Approach to Sports Officiating: the AHSAA Football Officials Perceived Effectiveness of the Hudl Video Hosting Program for Training and Development. Other contributions have included research on experiential learning methods in the sports and recreation industries.

Dr. Gilbert has also served as a textbook reviewer for Sports Facility and Event Management with Jones and Barlett Learning Publishing

Dr. Gilbert is dedicated to providing students in the Master of Science: Sports Industry program with a comprehensive and cutting-edge education, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application within the dynamic world of sports.
